Cyclo(Thr-Pro) is a flavonol glycoside that has been shown to have neuroprotective activity. Cyclo(Thr-Pro) binds to the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is important in the regulation of the cell's life and death. Cyclo(Thr-Pro) has also been shown to inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. Cyclo(Thr-Pro) has been shown to be reactive with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitor of neurotransmitter release from neurons, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties. Cyclo(Thr-Pro) is found in the genus Fusarium, and its natural compounds profile includes caffeine.
